The Karnataka State government has proposed the new pattern for kpsc kas exam gazetted probationers 2014-2015,in next kpsc kas exam will give more focus on general studies as in UPSC IAS exam 2014.


As we already posted about expected posts of kas officer in next kpsc kas exam 2014. about 493 posts of Group A and B gazetted probationer to be filled using this new exam pattern during 2014 or 2015 by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC).


the previous written exam was on optional subjects, which carried a total of 1,200 marks,now it has been reduced to 500 marks in the proposed new pattern. The new kas exam pattern focuses on general studies papers (four papers) which carries 1,000 marks against two papers carrying 600 marks earlier.

In new kas exam pattern, each general study paper carry maximum 250 marks each. The duration of the test will be three hours. Unlike in the past, candidates appearing for the exam have to write an essay paper of 250 marks (three hours)


Candidates will now have to opt for only one optional subject with two papers in the selected optional subject for 250 marks each (three hours). Total marks for the all written exams (seven papers) would be 1,750. Earlier, total marks were 1,800.

candidates must have to write qualifying papers — Kannada and English (150 marks each) and must secure 35 per cent marks in each paper. Candidates who do not secure the prescribed minimum marks in the qualifying papers will not be eligible for personality test and selection.
